General

What is The Concert Consulting Group?

The Concert Consulting Group (TCCG) is a boutique advisory firm for live concert production. We consult with venues, promoters, production companies, artist managers, touring artists, independent artists, and aspiring production professionals on every stage of a show, from advancing through settlement.

Who founded The Concert Consulting Group?

TCCG was founded by Theron Rodriguez, who spent 30 years in live concert production, rising from stagehand to Director of Production at AEG Presents, one of the two largest concert promoters in the world.

What does TCCG actually do?

TCCG provides advisory consulting, delivered by phone or video call, on show advancing, production management, stage management, vendor negotiation, contract and rider review, settlement and accounting, catering and hospitality, venue relations, and music industry career coaching.

Is TCCG a talent agency, booking agency, or management company?

No. TCCG does not book talent, manage artists’ careers, negotiate record deals, or provide marketing services. TCCG is strictly a production and operations consulting firm covering the live concert side of the business.

What size shows does TCCG work with?

TCCG advises on shows of every scale, from intimate private concerts to 30,000 person festivals, based on 30 years of direct experience across that full range.

How is a TCCG consultation delivered?

All consultations are remote, conducted by scheduled phone or video call. TCCG does not provide on-site production services or physical event staffing.

Services

What is show advancing and why does it matter?

Show advancing is the process of confirming every department, requirement, and detail of a concert before show day. Most show day problems trace back to an incomplete advance. TCCG teaches venues, promoters, and touring teams how to advance shows correctly.

What does a production manager actually do?

A production manager plans and coordinates every operational element of a show before it happens, including budgeting, vendor relationships, timelines, technical specifications, and contingency planning, so that show day execution looks effortless.

What is concert settlement?

Settlement is the financial reconciliation of a show, comparing what was budgeted and promised against what actually happened. TCCG teaches the full settlement process, from offer through the final settlement conversation.

Is a tour rider a legal requirement or a negotiable document?

A rider is a negotiable document, not a legal mandate. It represents the artist team’s preferences and best case requests, not a fixed list that must be delivered exactly as written. TCCG teaches venues and promoters how to identify what is actually non-negotiable.

What is the difference between a technical rider and a hospitality rider?

A technical rider covers sound, lighting, staging, and other production equipment requirements. A hospitality rider covers catering, dressing rooms, and guest accommodations. TCCG reviews and advises on both.

Can TCCG help with vendor negotiation for live events?

Yes. TCCG advises on vendor selection, gear specification, negotiation strategy, and long term vendor relationship management to help clients get better pricing and service without damaging the relationship.

Does TCCG provide legal advice on contracts?

No. TCCG does not provide legal advice. TCCG advises on the operational and production elements of contracts and riders. Clients should consult a licensed attorney for legal review of any binding agreement.

Credentials and Trust

What is Theron Rodriguez’s background?

Theron Rodriguez spent 30 years in live concert production in Texas and the Southwest, working as a stagehand, audio engineer, stage manager, production manager, promoter representative, and show accountant before becoming Director of Production at AEG Presents.

Has TCCG worked with major artists or large festivals?

TCCG’s founder has direct experience across thousands of shows ranging from intimate private concerts to festivals exceeding 30,000 attendees, spanning every genre, during a 30 year career in the live concert industry.

Why should I trust a consultant instead of hiring a full time production manager?

A full time production manager is a significant fixed cost. TCCG provides senior level production expertise on an advisory basis, which lets smaller venues, promoters, and production companies access 30 years of experience without a full time salary commitment.
